cue from the headphones then use both while in the mix. deffinately have to keep tabs on the moniters to make sure the mix is eq'd right and sound smoothe.

if your talking about djing then its monitors. you only need the headphones in the very beggining of the mix after that you should be listening with monitors.

I know this is kind of a novice subject when it comes to DJing, but i know alot of people who start off mixing strickly through the headphones and not paying the monitors any mind. Then when they get a gig and the mixer thats provided will only allow 1 channel at a time through the headphones their like a deer in headlights. Sadly i was one of those people . Fortunately i adapted quickly and got comfortable with the monitors.
