"On the decks right now from Los Angeles, CA representing Urban Assault"…Back2Back Sessions Vol. 4 jumps off with the ill styling's of DJ SHORTEE!!! SHORTEE’s mix is nothing short of a whirlwind tour through drum n bass with a splash of hip hop as she brings her turntablist skills to this high energy mix. SHORTEE’s selection of songs will please the ear of most drum n bass heads who like high energy variety. Songs like Futurebound and Entity’s, "Gangsta Jazz" run at a million miles per hour while Craze and Infiltrata's, "Gangstas" give the mix a rough LA style touch to it. She also gives us a SHORTEE megamix of the Subfocus remix and the original vocal version (by Fresh) of “Nervous”. The true skills of SHORTEE, though, comes through as she shows off her world class scratchin' skills over drum n bass (which any tablist will tell you is not the easiest genre to tackle)! Using the turntables as an instrument to compliment drum n bass music sets this mix and SHORTEE apart from most. The mixes may be quick and the cutting and scratchin' at breakneck speed, but don't blink throughout this mix cause you may miss something special, boom!!!
Side B of Vol. IV sees ORIGIN deliver a mix that one would expect from one of the USA's top producer/DJs; one laced with exclusive tunes, remixes and "soon to be released" material mixed seamlessly in a way to cater to heads across the spectrum of drum n bass!!! This mix features some top notch production talents from some of America's top flight guys behind the computer and mixing board. Basic Operation & Doppler's, "Restless" is an eerie song who's drums keep it running like a marathon while the Gridlok produced "Fingerprints" is a move to an aggressive edgy sound for anyone who wants to give their speaker cones a "workout"! The ORIGIN produced "Tron" is a standout tune who's mood shifts when "the sound" (listen and you'll find it) comes in and takes the entire song down into something a bit deeper. Not only does the mix use the works of some of the best producers stateside but also some of the top stateside MCs. With the likes of MC J-Messinian, MC Dino, MC Sharpness and MC Dre (who blazes an Infiltrata with Hochi tune, so much so we can't give it all to you, ha) on tracks, this mix also embodies the potential of drum n bass when a producer and MC work side by side to create something. Turn your speakers up and don't adjust the sound on this one!!!
