It's such a beautiful river we have in North Central Florida. Don't you agree?

i agree it is a great river, but since the state took over the park it has generally gone in a bad direction

I would have to strongly disagree. Since the state took over, now they can limit the number of people and disallowed motorized boats on the river in order to help protect the vegetation and wildlife. And the river is MUCH, MUCH cleaner, too.

Having grown up in that area, I can say with confidence that the river still goes in the same direction, generally, that it flowed 30 years ago.

its true they can limit the boats and protect the wildlife, but the river itself does not look as nice as it used to

A general increase in the fertilizer content of the water has been causing problems with overgrowth of algae.

http://www.gainesville.com/apps/pbcs.dl ... e=printart

"But nutrients in those waters have fueled algae growth that alter the river's ecology and cause allergic reactions in tubers, including three such incidents last year"

Itchey-tucknee? Itchy-tube-knee?

I saw a news blurb about it. Al Gore is totally right. SAVE OUR TUBERS! I'll be starting a non-prof this week.

Donations can be sent to my balls @:

I can't believe this thread has lasted this long. It was a joke/experiment that I think only Joe got. But said experiment failed because the thread did get moved even though it mentioned North Central Florida in the post.
