Calling all “poppers breakers movers shakers” to this mix as MACHETE puts together an upbeat mix of a smorgesboard of styles. From old skool jams to some new school flavor, you can tell listening to this mix that MACHETE burned through this entire set with a huge grin on his face. Throw in teases and scratching and you have one of LA’s finest letting loose. While deep ol’ skool wobbling and evolving basslines hit hard when tracks like “Punks” by A-Sides and “Driver” by DJ Die drumlines attack hard when tracks such as “Bambatta” by Shy FX (Roni Size & Mask Mix) rolls through. Taxman’s, “Too Bad” will surely get you up and jumping as will “Brut Force” by Roni Size. MACHETE not only mixes all of these seamlessly, he takes it to his hip hop roots with the scratching and almost a hip-hopesque brand of mixing drum n bass (cutting, scratching, teasing, juggling). This all makes for a very interesting mix you can bump over and over and over again and continually find something new and undiscovered upon each listen!!!
HAZEN tops off side B of this mix with a dancefloor tech-step laden mix to get you up and moving. The sounds of such artists as Dom & Roland, Subfocus and Gridlok dominate this mix from top to bottom. If you have ever seen HAZEN in action at Funktion ( USA ’s largest weekly where HAZEN holds a residency) you know that this mix is almost a straight from stage to your ear mix. “Hidden Threat” by Gridlok and “Druggy” by Subfocus are this mix's standout tunes as they race along at breakneck speed sure to get any head noddin’. HAZEN takes us back (not necassirly to the old skool, but around 5 years back) as he drops [/I]“Decoy” from Stakka & Skynet[/I] and one of personal favorites “Thunder” by Dom & Roland. Like a ball rolling down a hill this mix continually picks up speed with each new cut and new mix nothing less would be expected, trust, HAZEN delivers!!!
