it's still pretty early.

and it's REALLY hard to secure any sort of venue this year in miami.

it's damn near imposible and expensive for hotels to secure the proper permits to throw a day party..and last year..there were some AMAZING day parties...

miami beach code compliance are complete pricks.

i have a feeling that this may be the last wmc in miami this year...everything is too hard...prices are way too inflated and i think clubbers in general are getting tired of it.

this is probably our last year at conference.

come end of january..you're going to see a whole slew or parties being announced. everyone is scrambing..even me!

that is true..

but it is remarkable as to how many hotels are NOT partaking in wmc this year. it's really really difficult to secure a permit.

last year, we were suppose to have 2 day parties at a hotel..only to find out 7 days before conference that the hotel did not secure the proper permits. i had a city commisioner call me at 7am to tell me that i would need to find 2 new venues.

lucky for me, i did secure 2 awesome venues and it worked out for the best.

nonetheless, it's as if the city of miami doesn't appreciate the revenue we bring into miami..we being dj's, promoters and clubbers. the code compliance comes out to all the day parties and they either make you turn down your volume...if not, they'll shut you down and/or arrest you if they make you tell you three times.

i've been dealing with the locking down venues since september and i can tell you that is' 10000 times harder then it was 3 years ago...i thought last year was difficult but this year..it's really tough.

just my two cents.

i'm pretty sure this is our last year at conference.

maybe we'll start something where we can have a REAL winter music conference. montreal comes to mind...montreal is bad ass.

vegas would be fun too..something different, differenct energy level. the idea of vegas has been tossed around alot. i'm just tired of the bullshit that happens in miami every year.

i was afraid they were going to throw me in jail during our first day party..we had so much sound. during the party, the fire marshall came out and capped us at 100 persons at one time when we could have had way more pplt hen that. we were at capacity within 2 hours of our party and had to do the one in, one out system. it's absolutely ridiculous.

you hear horror stories from space last year...hyper getting dragged out of the booth by some ppl from space..grayarea being threatened that if they didn't move their stuff off their stage that they were going to toss it out..space is probably the worst. i hate space.

all in all, miami is just a shitty place to have it. most everyone down there are pretentious assholes and everything is just really expensive. paying 12 bucks for plastic bottle vodka and redbull is wrong. paying 10 bucks for a mich ultra is WRONG. paying 5 bucks for an 8oz. bottle of water is wrong. having clubs change prices on cover because there's a big crowd is wrong.

miami just needs a serious wake up call and appreciate all the patrons that come into their city for a week to enjoy the music and have a good time. all these new ordinances, near to impossible permits, shady club owners and vendors is just ridiculous.

i've honestly had enough. i have a serious love/hate relationship with miami. nothing truly bad has happened to me but i've just heard really horrible stories,..things that have happened to my friends.

am looking forward to this year but i'm pretty sure it's my last.

despite all this bitching, i will have a great time, drink tickets are my friends and the music is going to be stellar.

i'll get off my soapbox now :)

I think I may go just to Ultra and a few clubs that weekend...a friend of mine owns a condo right right there and I think I may just stay with him...

I really can't believe the promotors for Ultra booked Infected Mushroom Live.....that is the only reason I may go other than to blow some money with those guys on South Beach later that night....
