i went to one at fuel once....in all honesty i know its a great way to gain inner strength and enlightenment, but after seeing one for my own eyes, i kinda wanted to puke!
Is that like in Dee Snider's Stangeland where that guy hung himself from the ceiling on big meat hooks and went into some odd shamanic experience type thing?
I am going to be suspended in the middle of a tattoo shop from their exposed rafters. Big fishooks without the barbs are used. I am not doing it to achieve some sort of divine experience. I am doing it because I want to push my body to its limits.

I WILL GO!!! I LOVE SUSPENSIONS! I'M THINKING ABOUT DOING IT ONE DAY
Psychopath (Michelle) is supposed to go with me also. If you are serious, let me know. I will be going up there Friday, the 11th, and coming back Sturday night or early Sunday morning. It is a 4 hour ride up there.
Michelle is back down here. She doesn't have internet access right now, so she doesn't really check the board. I am going up there anyway, so gas won't cost anything for everyone else. You'd just have to pay for your food and part of the hotel. I haven't booked one yet, so I don't know how much it is going to cost.
Just found out the suspension, in fact the whole freak show, is off. The owner went through and fired a bunch of the artist. I guess it was clean up time. I am bummed.
a suspension requires a lot of mental and physical preparations niki, it would be a good idea to cut your caloric intake down to a minimum for a week before but most people fast. it is to loosen up the skin a bit, water and juices are a good idea. you want to make sure that if you have time to loose some weight do it. females have a harder time with suspensions because of the weight on your chest and the less weight your skin has to support the better. meditation and breath control is also a very good thing to practice because unlike tattoos and piercings you are highly likely to loose the endorphin rush before it is all over. i've seen suspensions where the person had not prepared and the hooks ripped thru. just be very careful when you are looking for a new group to suspend you. i'd recommend you check bmezine and prickmagazine for troupes to get with. you may also check with rod and kenny from inksmith&rogers on suggestions and preparation techniques. check my myspace friendlist for handsome geezer and rod
Thanks so much for the advice, Heather. It looks like I won't be going up anytime soon anyway. I have gone to Kenny for several piercings. I will remember to talk to him about suspensions the next time I am talking to him.
