Salma Hayek has signed on to play a Serial Killer in the upcoming crime flick LONELY HEARTS. She will play a real 1940’s serial killer named Martha Beck who found her victims through personal adds. Strangely enough, Beck was known as a very rotund woman, weighing it at over 200 pounds. Hopefully Hayek won’t gain weight or wear a fat suit to make the film historically accurate.
If the story sounds familiar, it’s because there is already a well known cult film inspired by the case. That would be THE HONEYMOON KILLERS (1970). That flick is definitely worth a watch. In fact, the Criterion Collection has released a very nice version of it which you can buy at amazon.com.
Why wouldn't she wear a fat suit to get into the persona of the character she is playing? Fat chicks are usually the people you should worry about snapping. People can be so cruel.

Huh??? That's a silly comment Susan. If her character is based on a large woman then she should appear large too. Selma certainly shouldn't just look pretty because she normally is. The person she is playing obviously isn't a hollywood movie star. I thought Charlize Theron's weight gain to look the part of Aileen Warnos (or however you spell it) was really important. If these movies are portraying historical events why not make the film historically accurate as far as character images???

Charlize Theron did an awesome job! I totally agree with what you are saying. I think it's interesting for another Serial Killer movie to come out especially with a hot bitch in it *drools*
Did she really win? I didn't watch the Oscars. I heard it sucked this year.
She did win for that role but it was at last year's oscars (held in 2004). I didn't watch this year either....too busy so I'm glad I didn't waste my time.
Should be interesting, would like to see anything new with Salma Frida was pretty good...
Just saw 'Monster' the other night with Charlize... thats pretty crazy, it was in FL too... Good movie though, she did an awesome job for the role. Looks NOTHING like the role she was playing though
