When cops attack...

I've been following this one. I'm glad it ended the way it did. I hope there are more endings like it in the times to come.
How it started...
The Stuff of Which Nightmares are Made

One February afternoon in a small public park in Simpsonville, South Carolina, a strange man approached a group of six mothers and twelve children who had gathered at a picnic shelter. The stranger was dressed in casual clothing, and appeared to be in a hurry. As he neared them, he shouted at one of the boys, telling him to take his hands out of his pockets. He then brushed past the boy and then began shouting at another boy, Tim, about having a knife. Several of the women urgently demanded that the stranger identify himself, but he ignored them and pushed Tim to the ground, and grabbed for Tim’s small hunting knife. At this point one of the women, Sarah, who was holding an 11 month old baby in her arms, again demanded that the stranger identify himself. He told Sarah to “shut up”. Sarah then courageously tried to push herself in between the stranger and Tim, and shouted for someone to call the police.
Unfortunately for UHU, this was not merely a bad dream. This event actually happened during a routine gathering. As it turns out, the stranger was a plain-clothes Simpsonville police officer. The good news is that nobody was injured or killed. The bad news is that Sarah has been charged with assaulting an officer, which is a felony (ed - the charge has since been dropped). Tim has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, which is a misdemeanor (ed - this charge has also been dropped). None of the UHU children who were present want to go back to Simpsonville Park, and they now fear the police.
How it ended...

Officer Michael Snow of the Simpsonville Police Department has been fired.
An internal investigation by the Simpsonville Police Department revealed that the officer acted irresponsibly when he arrested a mother for allegedly assaulting him and a young teenager for carrying a small pocket knife during a home school meeting at a park located about two hundred feet away from the Simpsonville Police Department.
Jason Roberts witnessed his mother's arrest. He says, "The officer pushed her with the baby in her hand. She landed on the concrete. He said, Arrest this woman. She just bought herself a whole lot of trouble."
The group had been attending their meetings at the park for the last five years. Laura Roberts, who was arrested, said they pick this park "because they feel safe knowing it's so close to the police department." But after last week's traumatic incident, the group doesn't know if they'll ever be back.
Led away in handcuffs, Laura Roberts spent hours in jail but her agony didn't end there. She said, "Every day is torment when you're afraid of going to jail and your child looks at you and says, Mama, what's going to happen to me if you go to jail."
The charges have since been dropped and both the mother and teenager will have their records expunged but are still not sure if they will pursue any type of legal action.
But for Laura Roberts she's relieved this ordeal is finally behind her and she's also very thankful. "I think if Fox had not been so prompt and so urgent in their coverage, it might not have been taken care of so quickly."
