yet i hear them in so many records, its laziness imo...

No shit bro...patches AND patterns. Who remembers creating "your own " sounds and patterns from an empty canvas? Or just a square bleep?Adam Singer wrote:yet i hear them in so many records, its laziness imo...

There are too many people to name who have done the whole preset thing. Example: Any cheesy FL breaks that were played out. I guess you might have to have owned some of the gear to recognize it, but it's abundant and extremely apparent. Just because you compress and fx a preset, it doesn't make it your own.I'm with you bro.

Give me a break. Unless the *sound* is the basis of the patch then there is no shame in using a pad, lead, bass to make *music*. Don't you play the piano Adam? That preset is soooo played out.

Naw, I totally agree. Get a synth and write YOUR OWN LINE, or use a line editor to mix it up. DO SOMETHING to make your own melody. What is the point in being a musician if you aren't actually writing your own music? Otherwise, you're nothing more than an ARRANGER. Straight up. If you're going to write music, start with a melody in your head and find a way to write it. You aren't a musician if you can't control your instruments.
I, myself, have put out a couple tracks where I took a sample line and found a way to "make it my own". Reason being, I didn't really know what I was doing yet. It was a learning process. I was far from having actual production skills. It was just the beginning.

Thanks for all the shoes.
