Break the Box & Andy McAllister - If You Want It!

Post by ground level »

The new release on Ground Level is out now! Release number 13 sees Break the Box and Andy McAllister team up in a track started in Derby and finished in Milan! Remixes come from Journeyman & BARRcode and Young Nutz!

Here's a little blurb about the track:

It started last July at Bar Vinyl, at Ground Level's first birthday party, after both playing their sets and a night of celebration, followed by a hungover journey up the M1 the following day. At some point in the previous evenings events it was decided that a collaboration should happen, so upon return in Derby Luigi Barone, aka Break the Box, and Andy McAllister took residence in the Ground Level studio for the afternoon. Four hours later and after numerous coffees and cigarettes the basis of what you hear today was made, and the boys retired to the pub after a hard days work....
Fast forward six months, and thanks to the generosity of a well known low cost carrier, Andy was on his way to a snow-covered Milan to finish the track. Two days later, after two very late nights, and the obligatory pizza, meatballs, espresso and visit to the Dorme, Andy was on his way back to the UK with the masters of If You Want It in his bag.

The track features snippets of hip hop vocal, looped and messed with, along with thumping b-more beats and fat basslines a la Moog, perfectly funky and contagious to get the dance floor 'working it, baby'.

Keeping the international flavor of the release going, parts where then sent over to Germany where Barrcode and Journeyman turned it into a dangerously dirty bass driven monster of a breaks track. The same parts then went down the road to Wolverhampton, where The Young Nutz turned it into a fidget house masterpiece, making great effect of the vocal samples.

Here what everyone think about it:
