Well thank you, but really I'm just a guy who posts lists of tunes he's into. The people who produce this music, who play it, and support it, they're the ones who rawk

Z, my name is Charles not Chris :)

As for the tunes, don't worry, I didn't d/l them as MP3s, I think some of them aren't even available as MP3s yet. You can find just about all of them either on vinyl (from domestic and foreign shops), or on DJ mixed CDs and compilations.

Paris is a beautiful city, very cultural, very diverse...except where nightlife is concerned.
Hate to break this to you, but Paris is probably worse than Orlando for Progressive House and Trance. 2 of the top 3 ranked DJs in the world, Tiesto and Armin have NEVER played in Paris even though Tiesto has a huge French following. The Parisian House DJs and promoters are to blame for this. The British and the Dutch scenes definitely do hold a grudge, which is why French DJs don't play in the UK too often, and rarely in Holland (the leading country for clubs and events in the world) even though they are so close to one another. This sort of isolation began in the late 90s I believe. It's definitely not a money issue, as Parisian clubs are not cheap.
It's even rare for Oakie, Digweed, and Deep Dish to play in Paris, and PVD hasn't played there in years. Paris is the only major city in Europe where this kind of BS takes place on such high levels.
If you love Techno DJs like Laurent Garnier and Carl Cox though you'll be able to find good events weekly. If you like French House by the likes of David Guetta and Daft Punk, again, you'll enjoy yourself. American House? Depends. Bad Boy Bill for example plays in Germany, Holland, the UK, Ibiza, but does not get booked in Paris. Hmmmm....

The good news is that Antwerp in Belgium, and some of the big German cities, aren't too far away. If you want Trance, take the train to those places as they have a lot of good local talent, and bring some well known guests. Amsterdam is about 4 hours away if I'm not mistaken.
The most active Progressive and Trance scenes in France are either in Lille, which is north of Paris (relatively close to Belgium's Trance and Progressive scenes), there's also Limoges, and parts of Southern France.

The worst thing about Paris? If you think NYC and South Beach clubs can be tough to get into at times wait till you go to Paris. The women are HOTTTTTTT, but the door policies at the good clubs tend to suck. And this coming from me, someone who usually dresses up in Kenneth Cole, DKNY, A/X, French Connection, etc when I'm out clubbin.
Don't worry though, there are clubs for tourists where admission prices are pretty low, and door policies aren't strict, but don't expect to find Paris's best DJs in those clubs.

Oh, and Paris has one of the biggest Hip Hop scenes in Europe. You'd be amazed at how some French Hip Hop sounds like American Hip Hop (though it's most obvious in German Hip Hop). Most Hip Hop clubs in Paris will play a lot of American Hip Hop and R&B, and will spice up some French Hip Hop as well. The French like to believe they're better than America, and very original, but you'll immediately notice how the French copy the looks and styles of artis like Mary J. Blige, or even Pop stars like Britney and Avril.

That was my observation last time I was in Paris. Oh, and you might want to go to the French forums of Tranceaddict to see if maybe I'm wrong about a thing or two.

Thanks for the scoop man. I'm well aware that Paris not home to a huge mainstram house and Trance scene. I'm moving there because I can live for free with my grandmother 8). However, last time I was there I went to a couple DOPE underground parties. One you had to call a phone # the day of to get the location of the party 8) I danced to an incredible trance DJ. Drum and Bass seemed to be the most popular of weekly events at clubs and so forth.

But like you said, the best thing about Paris is that it's very central to many other cities. Shit, they have the tunnel now, connecting with England. Trains are cheap and, with the exception of Spain and eastern European countries, most major cities are less than 10 hour ride in the train; Amsterdam, London, Brussles, Berlin... 8) 8) 8) 8)

Furthermore there it might be benneficial for me not to live somewhere where I can see a big - name DJ on any given weekend - I have no self control   I'll get nothing acomplished. Alls I'll do is Party, Party

Let me know what else is out there concerning the scene in Paree :)
