Tampa, FL, April 26, 2005 – Local indie-label FreePoets.com presents the Scribble Jam tour! For the last ten years, Scribble Jam has been the leading force in the underground culture of Hip hop. It is the only festival that allows people to see each of the 4 elements of the urban culture first hand. This year former Scribble Jam champions embark on an eleven city tour, holding regional battles, which will culminate at the 10 year anniversary event in Cincinnati, Ohio August 11-14.
Over the years Scribble has helped pave the way for many artists to connect with a multitude of people and industry personnel. Past participants have made major waves in the music industry from superstar Eminem in 1997 to Rhymefest (MC Battle Champ in 03) being nominated for a Grammy in 2005 for his work on Kanye West’s multiplatinum album "The College Dropout". Scribble Jam continues to be the place to make a name for itself in the Hip Hop industry.
Each tour stop will be a four to five hour show, dependant on how long the MC battle runs. The show will start with a local opening act with a 20 minute set. DJ DQ of Glue will play records between sets. Glue follows with a 45 minute set, and then a 20 minute B-Boy performance from assorted B-boys from around the country handpicked by Cros One of Freestyle Session. Next up is a 45 minute set from Mr. Dibbs, one of the premier Turntablists in the world. Mr. Dibbs will stay on stage as a DJ for Murs who will follow Dibbs' set with a 45 minute set. The night will close with the regional MC Battle, the winner of which will be flown to Cincinnati for Scribble Jam to compete for the $10,000 prize.
Throughout the evening David Ellis and Kenji Hirata of the Barnstormers will be painting live on stage as they are inspired by the music. The paintings will provide a stunning visual backdrop to enhance the Scribble Jam experience. You may have seen their work in the recent Absolut Vodka commercials that have been airing nationwide.
Tampa Scribble Jam tickets are limited to 300 – the most intimate of all the dates, with expectations to sell out quickly. Advance tickets are $ 15 and available online at www.masqueradtampa.com or www.ticketmaster.com
