I would like to use Wavelab to edit and clean up some of the MP3's that I have on my pc. When doing so, what are the best settings such as bit rate? Also, could someone explain Sample Rate to me?
24bit/96khz = HiDef audio quality [will soon be standard]
when editing mp3 you want to stay at whatever sample/bit rate the mp3 was encoded in or you will start to get bad artifacts... no matter which direction you go with it... if you have original wav file then you can downsample as much as your taste in quality allows... but again upsampling is not an option for it to sound good... the only way to go up is to export the song from cubase/fruity/sonar...etc at a higher rate to begin with...
