I love Trance

Post by Angie »

I watched Tiesto's dvd "Another Day at the Office" today, and it totally reopened my love for trance. In a world of constantly changing music, it is still the driving beat, and beautiful melody that I hold deep in my heart. :D two thumbs up. I don't care what anyone says about Tiesto, he is an awesome dj. He totally has it made.

Suzy Solar and I also watched Tiesto's video recently while we were on the plane coming home from our trip to Holland. Its definitely cool to hear his point of view. If you are a fan of trance, you might want to come hear a set by Suzy tonight at the Amphitheater in Ybor (Aug 15th from 1-3am). Check out her site http://www.suzysolar.com for weekly trance internet shows and trance downloads.
Peace

I haven't been on this board for awhile, but was amazed to see that Tiesto had a new DVD out...

The last GREAT music that I have found was Tiesto's Nyana.... I had the amazing experience of getting to listen to it in my friends car with a high-end stereo system - it was amazing.

I also read a GREAT review of Suzy Solar - I've never heard any of her work yet.

I'm a new Trance fan, who feels like I found the scene too late. Believe it or not, my first understanding of Trance only happened after watching PVD's Global DVD.

I guess I'm rambling, but I really liked the words in Angie's post. I try to explain Trance to people with an analogy to those 3D posters that used to be at the mall, that you had to stare at for awhile, before you you could see the picture... Trance to me has been the same way. It's taken me a long time, but I've finally learned to "hear" the beauty (Trance actually used to annoy me).

A guy named Brent from this board helped me a while back to find some GREAT mixes - mostly from PVD. He's since gone into the Army. I credit a lot of my new-found taste to him..

Well, I'm going to try and order the DVD off of Amazon.com. I'm going to try and check out Suzy Solar's site too...

You're talking about Zewad right? Yeah, he definitely loves Trance. Basically on this board aside from me I know that Lil B as well as guys like Spyke get into some conversations about Trance.
There's other ppl on enation who like this music, like Jason Borst (who rarely posts anymore), and a few of the guys over on the Jacksonville board.

It's great that you girls are getting into some good Trance. Feel free to start more threads on some of the DJs or sets that you like, or any questions that you might have. That's what this forum is for :) Me, I love a lot of different types of Electronic Dance music, though House and Trance are my faves.
If you have questions about House and Progressive music I'm sure guys like DJ Z, Kit e Kat, Joe C., Dan D'mantra, and JAFO Productions can assist you as well.

cool, i almost forgot i put this on here. imminent, i'm kinda glad you saw what trance is all about. If you keep up with paul van dyk and guys like that, you'll probably love it even more. Out of all the types of music, it brings people together more than anything. With a pumping beat, you can't stop moving. It's so high nrg. Most of the biggest events around the world are centered on electronica sounding energy. There is a LOT of good trance. Hard trance, progressive, high nrg like I like, ambient, dark, the list goes on and on. it's awesome!! American trance can be very wicked, as most European trance like Sasha is, or really anthem-y, like ATB. I could talk about music for days....

I always post on the Jacksonville board, perhaps I should bring my thoughts down to the trance/house board more often.

Hey Angie,
It's great to see more fans of trance growing at E-nation. I consider myself to be one helluva trance dj, I spin trance of all forms if you would like a CD. I spin Hard German and Dutch Trance, High Energy Euro Trance, Dark Lush Trance as well as Vocal Progressive House, Deep Sexy House, Spacey Electro House, Sexy Drum 'n' Bass and Timeless Classics.

O rlando Florida has been severely deprived of tasteful trance for quite some time, it's time to wake up this town with some fresh new nights promoting Lush Trance and Progressive House. I have been very busy as of late working 2 jobs but I have some free time coming up in September and I will be looking into throwing some ideas at the club owners in town as well as on the coast.

I would like to start an email list of all the people who appreciate solid high energy trance and uplifting progressive house, hit me up with a PM if you need a CD or want to be placed on my email list.

I will be submitting my best CD for Trance Domain's CD Contest in October and I would appreciate your vote after reviewing it at the website.

 SUPPORT LOCAL TRANCE DJS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I get a little lost in all of the sub-groups of Trance... maybe someone could offer direction based on these preferences...

What I like is what I would call "Atmospheric" or "Ambient" Trance. One of my FAVORITE tracks right now is:

Holden & Thompson "Nothing" (93 Returning Mix)

That's on Disc 2 of Nyana and on Ferry Corsten's new CD.

I REALLY like Disc 2 of Nyana...

I alos really like Track 8 on disc 2 of Nyana ALOT:

Motorcycle - "As The Rush Comes" (Exclusive Demo Mix)

(I'm flipping through the CD right now - and I think I just LOVE the whole thing!!! :-) )

I ordered a Armin Van Burren cd from Amazon - I've never heard one of his CD's - but from reading reveiws, he seems to be my style... we'll see...

actually, there are a LOT of sounds when it comes to trance. it's hard to get good records under every genre. I would love a cd. i think it's just a matter of time before someone is in the right place at the right time, and offers something to a club owner that 1. makes him a lot of money
& 2. brings a TON of people to the club. well, 2 leading to 1.

bliss... i'm happy u like the tiesto cd so much. the more i listen to it the more i like it. It's awesome. That song "as the rush comes" is bad ass. I would definitely play it out. There are a bunch of good songs. Tiesto has the PRIME hookup on the records. And it's cool that you are just getting into trance. Yeah, 2000 was probably one of the best years for trance, but better late than never. at least you made your way out of breakbeat world, into a world of rhythm and melody. Trance usually has more meaning or expression than breaks, although, some I can definitely bust a move too. I like progressive because it never lets you down. It's always flowing and building into something whether it be a beautiful vocal or a pounding bassline. It's always there, you can count on it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tony,
Why is it everytime I express myself you have to try to bring things down for me? If you think it bothers me it really doesn't. I hardly know you but I think that you are have great knowledge of quality house music but in my world house is not the only flavor of the month.

Are you not a fan of Dan D'mantra? (NOT A NAME THROW, A GOOD EXAMPLE) He plays a wide variety of dance music and doesn't get hung up on one specific music genre, and is quite successful at it, I have read his credentials at Trancedomain and met him in person and he is a class act. I am not saying that I am him I am just saying being more open minded about electronic music in general might help.

I am starting an email list for the fans of quality electronic dance music, good luck with your future promotions. Maybe soon we will meet again and it could be in the dj arena, I think that would be great and I would be happy to throwdown some kickass house music with you. 8)

Ferry Corsten at Space34 in Miami this Saturday... Think it's worth going? The only Trance-type show I've been to was PVD at House of Blues in Orlando a few months ago.

Anyone else considering going????

Yeah I'm considering going as well. You do realize Paul Van Dyk will be in Miami on the following night, Sunday night. It's Labor Day Weekend and he's one of the headliners for the Ultra event.

P.S. I'm still not 100 percent sure, but I believe Christopher Lawrence will be in Orlando on the 10th of September at Icon.

Chad

Dan is a good friend of mine and has a wide variety of music that he plays. He is both able to afford being able to purchase records of different genres all the time, and has time to research it. With myself, I dont have the time, spare money, or the want to. I play house, I listen to house, I like house.....I listen to other things at work all day that I dont want to listen to....muzak sucks ass....so therefore when I'm at Home/Car/Club I enjoy to listen to House.

Since its not a "random flavor of the month" and something I have been working on for quite some time this would entail that I am a "House" DJ. I mix in some Teck House, Filter House, Disco House, Deep House, Progressive House, Tribal House, Jazzy House, etc. but I just say "House". You could describe it if they inquired about you and start a worth while conversation insted of "I play everything under the sun and you dont have to wonder what I play"

Dan also does not make up cool sounding "genres" to make him sound cooler than the other guy. Also note that the genres I have mentioned are all normal, standard names used in the music community. I mean when you write something like:
I spin Hard German and Dutch Trance, High Energy Euro Trance, Dark Lush Trance as well as Vocal Progressive House, Deep Sexy House, Spacey Electro House, Sexy Drum 'n' Bass and Timeless Classics.
It seems kinda.....silly i guess.

My comment was not of what your knoledge or your mixing ability or you as a person. It was because of your overly creative names you came up with. You try too hard to stand out, let your actions speak for themselves.

Im tired now.......and going to sleep.

Its great to see some sort of head liners finally coming back thru this town. Two others are:

August 28th - King Britt
September 14th - East Coast Boogiemen & Lawn Chair Generals
